Snow, snow and more snow
As I write, there is another winter storm blowing and snowing outside. Ahhh, the life of a rural North Dakotan. Many people I talk to are on the verge of outrage at having to deal with snow. Last time I checked, we were still in ND where it snows...a lot, and blows...a lot. We need to adjust our attitudes. So far this year, it is only our second storm. By this time last year we had two and a half months of storms!! No matter what happens, we're already ahead of the game. And July has to come eventually!
My seed catalogs are piling up and I'm making lists and checking them twice. I'm working toward more open pollinated vegetables this year which has me doing more research on new varieties. I'm almost done with choosing my tomatoes and peppers, the possibilities are endless and when these two crops are selected I feel like I'm half done! The big decision this year is sweet corn. I'm thinking and researching and thinking and researching...and still feel no closer to a decision! So if any of you have advice to share, please do!
It's a wonderful day here on the farm. We're warm and cozy inside (with the exception of Duke who only enters his doghouse when it hits 20 below zero...he's tough!) while the storm rages outside. I'm alternately knitting and reading seed catalogs while John watches a John Wayne movie. Ahhhh, the life of a rural North Dakotan!
